On June 9, people in the EU voted for the parliament and the outcome was less radical than expected, but still many Europeans voted for the far right, populist parties. One of the main reasons that people vote for these parties, is that they are worried about migration, worried that immigrants and refugees will take away their jobs and houses. Or is it fear for the unknown? But what if we will have to migrate ourselves, because the sea level is rising so much that our countries will flood? Judith Vanistendael and Eva Hilhorst traveled to Melbu in the North of Norway, a town that hosts around 200 asylum seekers to find out what it is like to live so far from home and how these strangers integrate in society. In this reportage you can read what they learned from the people in Melbu. This reportage was originally made in Dutch for Belgian Apache magazine #14
