‘De Wachtkamer’ (Dutch for: the waiting room) is a series of drawings about the
current (Dutch) policy around asylum. Traumatised refugees are sheltered in the
most bizarre places, old hospitals, jails, barracks and in Germany even old SS buildings.
These two factors, combined with fact that a big part of refugees suffer
from boredom and aimlessness, form a base for this series. ‘Does this tells us
something about them or about us?’
