The Riot In Social Psychiatry

Reinventing the social psychiatric system with hammer and magnifying glass

The renowned Danish welfare system is under heavy critizism for its inability to handle patients with mental issues. The psychiatric and social psychiatric systems are underfinanced, oldfashioned and rigid, critics say. Recently, the social psyciatric administration in the city of Copenhagen has begun employing former patients in order to develop new methods. Christina Færch-Jensen was a forerunner in this revolution from within. Text and drawings made on location by Jakob Fälling. The story was originally printed in the union magazine Akademikerbladet. It is shortlisted for the Anders Bording prize of innovation at Danske Medier.
