Becoming Muslim Miss Manga

When Jeroen Janssen and Hilde Baele visited the FIBDA comics festival in Algiers last year, they were intrigued. With the slogan “Tell me in Bubbles” and workshops about “Freedom of Speech,” “Politics and Cartoons,”The Comic Strip and Drawing in the Arab World” they asked themselves questions from the stance of “Je suis Charlie:” Aren’t cartoons and images haram, prohibited by Islam? They asked the Muslim visitors at the  festival and were reassured, as you can see and read in this beautiful reportage.
